It will not usually be looked at as the funnest game in the realm of gambling, but keno has huge amounts of passionate followers. And so it should! It’s a always exciting lotto-like game that’s uncomplicated to learn, readily available in many assorted variations, and one that may pay out millions of dollars for people who master its many subtle intricacies. But let’s begin with the basic rules for now.
When describing keno to amateurs, some gaming connoisseurs compare it to lotto. This is at least to some extent correct, in that both games are basically numerical. But to take that comparison too far might be to belittle the endless unique aspect that make keno so fun. Unlike bingo, keno users have the power to pick the numbers for each and every card.
Keno cards have a grand total of 80 numbers, but the gambler is granted an increased level of personal responsibility by being able to select as many (or as few) numbers as he thinks is appropriate. And it doesn’t take a keno superstar to come up with how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark all of your desired numbers with a standardmarker like you had back in the day.
Now that you have checked your numbers, take your keno card back to the keno pit manager at the keno booth. The person will record your numbers and then hand you a receipt. Do not lose this (potentially) lucrative piece of paper! Even if the keno pit manager remembers your pretty face and wants help out, without a winning ticket with you, you will win precisely $.00 for your winning card.
So, there you have strategy numero uno: always take care to keep your keno slip. Let us advance to something a little more complex, shall we?
Once you’ve marked your numbers, get into a comfortable keno booth and watch the action happen on a big video monitor. That’s where the winning numbers are shown in lights. If you selected winners, mark your card accordingly. Be sure not to dilly dally, or sit there congratulating yourself for too great a length of time. You want to get up to the keno booth to redeem your winnings, since a new keno game will surely begin within a few minutes.
Strategy #2: always make sure to get back to the keno booth on time!
Assuming you can’t trust yourself to beat that 5 minute deadline each time, you always have the option of buying a "multi-race" ticket. These include the self same set of your desired numbers on anywhere from two to twenty slips. When the max number of games (fitting the number of tickets) is finished, you can then get off your numb rump and go collect your winnings.
Still another alternative is recognized as a "stray and play" keno slip, which normally allows you make number picks for 30 games or more. Gosh, you can take an ocean cruise and not have to worry about getting back in time to retrieve your numbers. Most "stray and play" tickets are good for up to a whole year after you purchase it!
And now you know a couple required strategies for winning keno. If you are an experienced gambler, they may appear to be very obvious. However, it will not hurt to bone up on the basics, and if you are a new keno player, every tiny bit of direction will help make your keno betting more agreeable.
