The History of Keno

Keno was created in 200 before Christ by the Chinese military leader, Cheung Leung who used keno as a monetary resource for his failing army. The city of Cheung was waging a battle, and after a bit of time appeared to be facing country wide famine with the excessive drop in supplies. Cheung Leung needed to create a quick fix for the economic calamity and to create money for his army. He, as it follows created the game we know today as keno and it was a fantastic success.

Keno used to be known as the White Pigeon Game, because the winning numbers were delivered by pigeons from larger locations to the smaller towns. The lotto ‘Keno’ was brought to the United States in the 1800s by Chinese immigrants who came to the United States to work. In those times, Keno used one hundred and twenty numbers.

Today, Keno is generally bet on with 80 numbers in just about all of American land based casinos along with net casinos. Keno is commonly liked today as a result of the laid back nature of wagering the game and the simple fact that there are little skills required to play Keno. Regardless of the reality that the chances of getting a win are horrible, there is constantly the possibility that you could hit quite big with little gaming investment.

Keno is played with eighty numbers with 20 numbers picked each round. Enthusiasts of Keno can choose from 2 to ten numbers and gamble on them, as much or as little as they want to. The payout of Keno is according to the wagers made and the matching of numbers.

Keno has grown in popularity in the US since the end of the 19th century when the Chinese letters were replaced with more familiar, US numbers. Lottos were not covered under the legalization of gaming in the state of Nevada in Nineteen Thirty One. The casinos altered the name of the ‘Chinese lotto’ to ‘horse race keno’ utilizing the notion that the numbers are horses and you want your horses to place. When a law passed that taxed off track betting, casinos quickly adjusted the name to ‘Keno’.
