It won’t commonly be deemed the best game in the world of wagering, but keno has millions of dedicated admirers. Why wouldn’t it? It’s a consistently exciting lottery-like game that’s a snap to play, readily available in loads of assorted variations, and one that will yield millions of dollars for gamblers who learn its many subtle intricacies. But let’s start with the basic rules here.
When describing keno to novices, some betting pros compare it to the lottery. This is at least in some ways correct, in that both games are fundamentally numerical. Yet to carry that comparison too far would be to think too little of the many unique aspect that make keno so compelling. Not like bingo, keno players have the power to pick the numbers for each card.
Keno cards have a total of eighty numbers, but the user is granted an additional level of personal responsibility by being able to choose as many (or as few) numbers as he or she thinks is appropriate. And it doesn’t take a keno superstar to come up with how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark each of your desired numbers with a standardball point pen like you had when you were in third grade.
Now that you’ve marked your numbers, take the keno card back to the clerk at the keno booth. The person will record those numbers and then give you a receipt. Do not lose this (potentially) valuable piece of paper! Even if the clerk remembers your pretty face and would like to help out, without a winning ticket in hand, you will collect precisely $.00 for your winning card.
So, there you have strategy number one: always take care to keep your keno ticket. Let’s advance to something a little bit more complicated, what do you think?
Once you’ve picked out your numbers, get into a comfortable keno booth and watch the action happen on a big video monitor. This is where the winning numbers are shown for us. If you marked winning numbers, mark your card accordingly. Be sure not to drag your feet, or sit there congratulating yourself for an obnoxious length of time. You want to get up to the keno booth to get your winnings, and a new keno game will certainly start up within a few minutes.
Strategy number two: always make sure to get back to the keno stand on time!
Since you don’t trust yourself to make that five-minute deadline each and every time, you always have the option of buying a "multi-race" ticket. These include the self same set of your handpicked numbers on anywhere from 2 to twenty cards. When the maximum amount of games (the same as the amount of tickets) is finished, you may then get off your lazy butt and go retrieve your winnings.
Yet another option is referred to as a "stray and play" keno ticket, which usually allows you make number picks for thirty rounds or more. Golly, you can take a world tour and not have to fret about getting back in time to redeem your winnings. Most "stray and play" game tickets are good for up to a whole year after it’s purchased!
So now you are aware of a couple necessary techniques for winning keno. If you are a good user, they may seem stupidly obvious. But it will not hurt to bone up on the basic methods, and if you are a beginner keno player, every bit of direction will help make your keno gambling more entertaining.
