It may not often be deemed the most fun game in the realm of gaming, but keno has loads of steadfast enthusiasts. Why wouldn’t it? It’s a routinely entertaining lottery-esque game that’s a snap to master, abundantly available in many alternate formats, and one that will yield mega-dollars for gamblers who master its countless subtle intricacies. But let’s begin with the beginner’s rules here.
When explaining keno to beginners, some wagering masters compare it to lotto. This is at least partially correct, in that each game is fundamentally numerical. But to take that comparison too far will be to undervalue the good many unique characteristics that make keno so compelling. Unlike bingo, keno players have the ability to choose the numbers for every card.
Keno cards have a total of 80 numbers, but the player is granted an extra degree of personal responsibility by being able to decide on as numerous (or as few) numbers as he feels they need. And it doesn’t take a nuclear physicist to come up with how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark each of your desired numbers with a good oldball point pen like you had back in school.
After you’ve checked your numbers, carry your game card back to the person at the keno stand. The girl will record those numbers and then hand you a receipt. Make sure no to drop this (potentially) lucrative bit of paper! Even if the clerk remembers you and would like to help out, without a winning slip in hand, you will win precisely $.00 for your efforts.
So, there you have strategy #1: always take care to keep your keno slip. Let us move to something a tiny bit more complex, ok?
Once you’ve picked out your numbers, get into a nice keno booth and watch the action take place on the monitor. That is where the winning numbers show up for us. If you picked winners, mark your card accordingly. Be sure not to take your time, or sit there congratulating yourself for too great a length of time. You want to get up to the keno stand to get your winnings, as a new keno game will almost certainly begin within five minutes.
Strategy number two: always make it back to the keno stand on time!
Assuming you don’t trust yourself to beat that 5 minute deadline each time, you always have the option of using a "multi-race" ticket. These include the very same set of your handpicked numbers on anywhere from 2 to 20 slips. When the max number of keno games (the same as the amount of tickets) is completed, you can then get off your lazy bum and go redeem your winnings.
Yet an additional choice is known as a "stray and play" keno ticket, which commonly lets you make number choices for 30 games or more. Hell, you can take all the time in the world and not have to get uptight about getting back in time to redeem your winnings. Most "stray and play" tickets are good for up to a whole year after purchase!
So now you have learned a number of needed methods for winning keno. If you are a skillful user, they might appear to be very obvious. But it will not hurt to bone up on the basic strategies, and if you are a new player, every bit of direction will help make your keno playing time more agreeable.
